About The Climate Survey

The Student Affairs Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, Access, and Leadership (I.D.E.A.L.) Climate Survey will be launched for the first time this Spring 2023. This survey will be administered every four years to all employees in Student Affairs. Two years following this survey, we will conduct a shorter survey to determine progress on targeted areas of concern that will be determined based on results from the I.D.E.A.L. survey.

This climate survey is part of a larger Equity, Diversity & Inclusion (EDI) Self-Study of Student Affairs. The survey was created by our Student Development and Inclusion Office and Office of Assessment and Analytics, with consultation from Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion. Items on the survey align with our Student Affairs core values: Belonging, Care, Integrity, Lifelong Learning, Self-Discovery and Student-Centered.

The goal of the Student Affairs I.D.E.A.L. Climate Survey is to develop a baseline and assess employees’ perceptions of the Student Affairs working environment and to inform future planning, investments and strategic decisions that allow for alignment of work that contributes to inclusive excellence. This survey will help Student Affairs better understand the perceptions of inclusion, diversity, equity, access, and leadership within our organization and how different groups perceive our climate. This survey is essential for informing strategic decisions that are in alignment with our Adapting to Student Needs Strategic Plan. This inaugural survey will assist us in building a baseline so we can best prioritize the work ahead.
